Running Costs shouldn't really affect if you like the car, true petrolheads will pay for a good car! hence why the forester seems a good choice but i have only ever seen one on the motorway. And have always loved the look of the Forester (Boxy, sleeper) The dilemma was between me getting a R26, but the two i went to look at have failed MOTs before i saw them, which instantly put me off them as they needed more work than i was happy about, so started looking around again to see what was available and i really want something me and the OH can travel around Europe/Scandinavia. Im actually from up north (Liverpool) just working down here for the next 6 months! and i can travel! i may need the car for next winter. The rest of the parts are relatively cheap and widely available, and if you like working on your own car then they are fairly easy to do. Typical costing breakdowns are dependant on your garage but rough prices are Only other things really is servicing, an independent will be roughly half the cost of subaru, With a six mile commute you'll only really get mpg in the low 20's on longer runs expect high 20's early 30's Runing costs aren't too bad if you find a local specialists, Not sure of any foz owners that way on her but you could try uk foz too, Im currently based im portsmouth and would like to hear back from any owners that may be able to help me! I have never managed to see one in the flesh or have someone take me out in one, it would set my mind at ease to speak to a few owners and see their own foresters and if they are feeling generous, take me out for a spin in one. The car will ferry me to and from uni, 6miles each way and do a 400 mile round trip liverpool-bath-liverpool every weekend or so, whilst i know mpg isnt great on these its more than acceptable on such a unsuspecting rocket ship. Insurance has dropped enough, 650 for the xt and 960 for the fsti which mean they come into price range of what i wanted to loan and spend. I have no need to ferry around children or take rubbish to the tip, im still a student and have always been drawn to forester xt and fstis. Being 24 (and having only had one car) ive been playing with the idea of a classic car and a motorway muncher, but as the classic car world refuses to insure me on the one i was after i have decided to go for an all rounder!
